If you have a swimming pool in Houston, you probably already have guests galore as the summer gets Houston-hot! But are they pool parties, or just gatherings where people jump into the cool water without a purpose?
If you want to keep the July 4th fun going all summer, here are 3 pool-party ideas that will help you do it. Trust us, your guests will love it!
Get Your Bowser On
If you remember the 1950’s with fondness, or if they were before your time, you can host an amazing 50’s themed swimming pool party. Bust out the old Chuck Berry records, or create a playlist full of the hits from the era that will put your guests in the mood as they arrive. Everything from Buddy Holley to Bill Hayley is fair game here.
Go with a color theme of black, white, pink, and turquoise in everything from balloons and paper goods to beach towels. The food from the 50’s is easy: cheeseburgers and French fries! Consider serving milkshakes and ice cream for dessert.
Just Beachy
Anyone who has a swimming pool in Houston has probably hosted a beach-themed party or two, but they’re so easy and fun to do! Mix yours up by doing a Hawaiian theme complete with lies, inflatable palm trees, and pink flamingos. Bright colors and tropical delights are in store when you set out trays of pineapple, real coconuts, and mangos. Throw in some pineapple chicken or ham skewers and you’ve got a party that is straight from the islands.
If a laid-back beach vibe is really what you’re going for, serve Boardwalk fare such as popcorn, hot dogs, and corn-on-the cob. Toss a few seashells on the tables, have plenty of Frisbees and floaties on hand for fun and spread out the beach towels.
Yar Matey!
If it be a pirate theme ye be looking for, ye’ve come to the right ship! Treasure maps can lead your guests in the right direction for the booty, which in this case are the treats and snacks you set out on the corner of the deck. Red and black are classic pirate colors, so raise a flag or two and supply inexpensive scarves for use as napkins or headwear.
Eye patches and plastic gold doubloons are fun props. Seek out drink recipes that feature a pirate’s favorite drink; rum! Have Non-alcoholic versions for the kids made with pineapple juice and coconut with a little rum extract.
Looking Good
Owning a swimming pool in Houston is more fun than a boatload of pirates. Make sure that your pool is ready for the company you’ll keep this season by having any chips or cracks repaired, any upgrades completed, and making sure that your pool looks as good as it possibly can for the fun that will come your way. Stay safe and have a blast!
