Designing a new swimming pool can be a daunting task unless you do some homework first and decide on a concept or idea that you love and are comfortable with, that can still fit within your budget.
There are many different pool options to consider such as above ground, inground or even an endless pool. Consider the amount of space there is to work with within the yard, while also keeping in mind any additional features you would like to add such as a waterfall or even extra space for a spa or a barbecue area. Then begin to consider the budget and how much is available to spend on designing the perfect backyard escape.
Types of Inground Pools
1. Concrete Pools
Concrete pools are custom built to the size and shape the homeowner wants. The concrete will cure on top of steel reinforced walls, and then the concrete is smoothed and then painted and finished in the desired colors and tile. A concrete pool may take longer to put in than another type of pool, but it also the most durable and are built to last for years and years with proper maintenance. Concrete pools can take between three to twelve weeks from construction to finish.
2. Vinyl-Lined Pools
Vinyl-lined pools are also reinforced with a steel frame but are then covered with a vinyl liner. The shape of the pool is limited when vinyl is chosen, but you still have a variety of different colors and patterns that can be selected to make it your own. A vinyl-lined pool can take up to three weeks to construct and finish.
3. Fiberglass Pools
Fiberglass pools are generally factory molded, and there is little room for customization. The pool itself is shipped to the location instead of constructed on the site. Fiberglass is an excellent choice if you are in a state in cooler climates because they can withstand extreme temperature changes.
